My neighborhood friends that greet me everyday when we come home. School is out for the summer.

These cute children were making brooms to sell.
The little boy is six and his sister is seven. Their mother is a single mom. They were all working to make these brooms. It was about 10:30 in the morning on a very hot day. The brooms sold for ten pesos or about 25 cents each. We bought some. They really are good for sweeping dirt floors or cement floors. We wanted them to have some ice candy (frozen melon or coconut flavored water) later on when it got really hot, so we gave them a tip. I am sure they had to work to help their mom provide enough food to eat. I wanted to just "sweep" them up and take them down to McDonald's in our air conditioned car. Of course we could not do that. They seemed happy in spite of their hard work. I hope all my grandchildren help their parents with whatever work needs to be done. Love you all!

This is very unusual to see such a nice house by rice paddies.

This is RJ's painting of the Savior.
RJ is the young man who is now waiting for his mission call to come to him. He has painted and is selling his artwork to earn money for his mission. This painting is maybe 3 by 4 feet. It is exquisite.

I am going to share some of my favorite artwork.
Our stake patriarch is a painter. He always enters the art contest sponsered by the Ensign. The church has bought a few of his paintings.
I have permission to share his art. This one is called"The sound must go forth". It is a very large painting and oh so beautifully done.

Very innovative in their security.
Any cement constructed fence always has broken glass put up at the top. I don't know how they do it without getting cut the pieces, or who would do that job, but if they don't have glass they use nails. Click on the picture so you can enlarge and see it better.

Good Friday march.
We passed this group of people walking bare footed on the National Hwy. They must have been on the way going to a church. There was at least 2000 men, women and children. There were three priests in front and then a man carrying a large, heavy cross by himself, then all the people. Sorry we did not get the picture of the man carrying the cross. The malls were closed on Thursday and Good Friday. Today is Black Saturday and tomorrow is Easter and the malls are open. One can even go to mass at the mall and then shop.

Had to blog this for Aaron.
We use to call him AJ when he was young. Now Aries has adopted this as his nickname. Whom ever claims it, can have it. Love you two
