HOW many Filipinos does it take to unlock a door? More than is in this picture!

We came home from a long day and could not unlock our bedroom door. After trying for about 15 minutes, Elder Ganir decided to go and get the owner. Thank goodness he was home, because the bathroom is in that bedroom! Anyway, the dead bolt on the door just died. So after an hour of trying these fellows just broke the dead bolt out with a hammer. Then the door knob lock wouldn't work either, so they also broken the door knob off. They still couldn't open the door ! Then the mother and the son came over to see what was taking so long and said, just break the rest of the door and in five minutes were in. It took an hour and a half to do this. I guess we didn't need to worry about anyone breaking in because it would take at least six Filipinos to do it in an hour and a half! Ha! Ha! Of course they didn't leave without a church pamphlet from Elder Ganir.

This story is for everyone except April and Akoni! Ha Ha I hope it publishes this time.

Notice the cinder block fence with barred wire on top by the house on the left of the picture. This is our house and this is our fence around our compound. So we are pretty safe. The story I was going to share, is about, this once vacant lot next to our house. A month or so ago, the owner decided to fence off this lot so people would stop burning their trash on it. So, the grass just grew and grew to fence top heights! Now, barred wire will maybe stop thieves, but not SNAKES! I was getting worried that the grass was so tall that the snakes would slither up the thick, tall grass and then over the fence. This is what can happen here. We came home one day and noticed that the grass looked like it had been cut. So we walked over to see and this is what we found... No grass, but instead, lots of roosters. We have them in the back and now on the side of our house. Let me tell you that it is okay with me. I will take roosters over snakes any day. When the owner of the roosters cut the grass on the side of our house, he found a boa constrictor and in the back by that tall grass he found a cobra and on the back outside corner of our fence he found a nest of small black snakes. He got ride of them all. He couldn't have snakes by his prize-winning roosters or his baby boy. He lives in the green house on the right of this picture. So, every time I hear a cock-a-doodle-do, I thank God for roosters instead of snakes!

Elder Moala from Tonga (in red) will never pose for a normal picture to be taken!

Elder Moala is the most theatrical and jovial missionary we know. He is the one that says he can perform the baptism of William.Posted by Picasa

The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone!

One thing I really love about the Philippines, is that everyone is accepted here no matter what handicap or infirmity they have. This is wonderful William. He is an investigator that these two elders love. He is kind and sweet and very interested in the gospel. He is a very huge man and has all sorts of health issues because of his size. He wants to be baptized and so the elders are going to figure out everything, so this can be done. Baptismal clothes, font or ocean, who will be able to do the task, friends and fellow shippers are also needed. All of these things are starting to happen so the way is prepared. How wonderful it is to be in a place that judges no one by appearance only. I know that all of you reading this blog feels the same way we do about the fact the Jesus really does love everyone.Posted by Picasa
